The Coastal Zone - Lima, Ica, Nazca, Arequipa

December – April
This is Summer on the coast where the weather is hot and dry and ideal for swimming. The average temperature range is between 25 – 35°C. There is little to no rain during these months. many people visit the beaches around Lima and the North during the months of January and February which coincide with school holidays.

May – November
Blankets of sea mist engulf the coast from the south right up to about 200 km north of Lima from May to November and the temperature drops slightly. Only the northern beaches such as Mancora and Punta Sal are warm enough to provide pleasant swimming conditions at this time of year.

The Highlands of the Andes - Cusco, Puno and Lake Titicaca

Mid April – October.
This is the dry season with dry warm days and cold nights often hovering just above freezing particularly in June and July. The countryside is exceptionally lush with superb views and fine weather and May thru July generally the best months. You’ll find the streams flowing, the grass green and the flowers in full bloom.

November – Mid April
With most rain in January and February this is the wet season . With bursts of heavy rain in the afternoons it is usually clear and dry in the mornings. The daily temperatures are typically mild with only a slight drop at night. You may find some roads become impassable when trying to visit remote villages at this time of year.
Many of Peru’s major festivals such as Carnival and Easter Week take place during this period.

The Amazon Jungle - Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios, Manu

April – October
This is the ‘dry’ season with Daily temperatures average 30–35°C and this is the dry season. When Cold fronts from the South Atlantic sweep in temperatures can drop to 15°C during the day and 13°C at night.
This is the best time to visit the jungle regions as there are fewer mosquitoes and the rivers are lower. It is a good time to view the animals at close range as they stay close to the river banks and are more easily seen.

November – March
You can expect heavy rain at anytime as this is the wet season. Simply put it is hot and humid. Only raining for a few hours at a time it is not enough to spoil your trip. Gum boots are a must on the jungle trails as they can become creeks.
