TRIP SUMMARY
Upon arrival to the “City of Kings” you will have the opportunity to appreciate the food, culture, architecture and art in the capital of the World’s most diverse country. A short flight then sees you arriving to the town of Puerto Maldonado located in the southern part of the Peruvian Amazon basin.

The lodge is about an hour’s bus ride and 2 hour motorised canoe ride from Puerto Maldonado adjacent to the Tambopata National Park. A compact yet thorough excursion, featuring superb activities and explorations, that permits you to discover a wide diversity of ecosystems subsisting in the Amazon rainforest, and to explore the rich biodiversity within the Tambopata region. The wildlife is amazing, from giant and colorful parrots, to toucans, macaws, tapir, tamarin, owl, the giant otter, as well as a large variety of monkeys all possible sightings. A range of optional activities are also available.

A boat ride along the Madre Dios River and short flight sees you arriving to the Imperial City of Cusco, centre of the Incan empire referred to as "the navel of the World". Here you will visit Incan ruins, take in 500 year old Spanish architecture and learn about the indigenous Quechua peoples. From Cusco set out through stunning Andean scenery to the Sacred Valley of the Incas where you will visit colourful local markets, imposing Incan fortresses, the local community of Chichubamba and relax before you begin the Inca Trail.

The Trek combines a stunning mix of Incan ruins and mountain scenery. Following the trail you will gracefully traverses through high-mountain desert, cloud forest, mountain passes and orchid-rich jungle on your way to "The Lost City of the Incas", Machu Picchu. No other place on Earth combines such spectacular natural beauty with such intrigue. Over a distance of only 45km and reaching elevations around 4200m you will traverse and transcend both space and time as you experience the same stunning views and inexplicable sense of power the ancient Incas did on their pilgrimage to Machu Picchu during the height of the Incan Empire. Overnight at Machu Picchu with the option to return to the ruins before returning to Cusco for a free day.

Leaving Cusco board the luxury Andean Explorer train for one of the World's great train journeys high into the Altiplano of the Andes to Puno. A full day boat trip on the World’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca, visits the floating reed islands of Uros, lunch on Taquile Island famous for its textiles and arrives to Suasi Island for your dinner and overnight. Enjoy island activities and learn about the Aymaran culture before returning to Puno for a dinner and show.

Taking a little travelled route in your private vehicle you will travel through the Altiplano visiting the Ancient Aymaran ruins of Sillustani and local communities along the way to the rim of world's deepest canyon, Colca Canyon. Bathe in the thermal hot springs and view condors in flight before arriving to the "White City" of Arequipa, rimmed by three Volcanoes and home to the 16th-century Santa Catalina Convent, where the inhabitants have lived cut off from the outside world for more than 400 years.

Fly to Lima for a farewell dinner and show before your international departure.

Kutimunki Peru is an experience you will never forget.

This itinerary is not physically demanding and provides an ideal mix of exploration, relaxation, and adventure in style. Good walking shoes are recommended.
The Inca trail is rated as moderate and any reasonably fit person should complete the trek.
